Biographies of Our Firm

Charles Slade has been involved in patent law since 2005. Prior to joining Strategic Patents in 2009, he worked in the Boston office of two international law firms where he was involved in all aspects of patent practice. Charles has drafted and prosecuted patents in a variety of technical areas, including computer science, electrical engineering, materials science, finance, and biotechnology. He has experience in critical pre-litigation efforts for both patent owners and potential defendants, including infringement investigations, preparing written opinions on non-infringement and/or invalidity, performing product clearance analyses, and providing design-around counseling to avoid competitors' patents. Charles also has litigation experience, having represented both plaintiffs and defendants in patent infringement actions.

Charles graduated cum laude from New England School of Law. He earned a Master of Arts degree in mathematics from the Pennsylvania State University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from the University of California at Santa Barbara. He is a member of the Massachusetts Bar and licensed to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

When not practicing patent law, Charles is an avid chess player and an enthusiastic magician – hobbies he has enjoyed for more than 20 years.
